Japan Port Industry Co., Ltd. Completes Kobe Uozaki Refrigerated Warehouse

On December 28, Kamigumi subsidiary Japan Port Industry Co., Ltd. (JPI) completed a construction project to rebuild the Kobe Uozaki Refrigerated Warehouse in Higashinada Ward, Kobe.

As noted in the previous News Release, "Japan Port Industry Co., Ltd. to Rebuild Kobe Uozaki Refrigerated Warehouse" (issued April 27, 2021), the decision to rebuild the aging warehouse was made to ensure the stable provision of high-quality services to customers in response to the growing volumes in recent years of imported frozen cargo, including dairy products and meats, and in anticipation of future growth in demand.

This warehouse features freezer and refrigeration facilities that use natural refrigerant gas (ammonia and CO2), based on a concept of high-efficiency equipment with low environmental impact. In addition, the entire roof is covered in solar panels to generate electricity to offset a portion of the warehouse's electricity consumption.

The combined capacity of the Kobe Sumiyoshi Refrigerated Warehouse (completed in 2020) and this warehouse has increased JPI's storage capacity 1.5-fold compared to that before this rebuilding project. In this way, JPI plans to accommodate anticipated demand growth.

To achieve the goals of its Medium-Term Management Plan, Kamigumi will actively expand growth investment groupwide for improving competitiveness and medium- to long-term business growth, as well as pursue the strategy of strengthening core businesses--one of the key strategies.
