Kamigumi to construct Kamigumi Hiyoshibaru Battery Storage System (tentative name) for grid-scale battery business

Kamigumi Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Kobe; President & Representative Director: Yoshihiro Fukai; "Kamigumi" hereinafter) has established Kamigumi Hiyoshibaru Battery Business Company, G.K. and made a decision to construct the Kamigumi Hiyoshibaru Battery Storage System (tentative name) within the premises of its Oita Branch Tsurusaki Office, following the project's selection for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's FY2025 subsidy program to support the introduction of grid-scale storage batteries and other power storage systems for the expansion of renewable energy.
The Kyushu region, where the battery storage system is to be constructed, is well suited to the deployment of renewable energy and has made more progress than other regions in adopting solar power generation in particular. Consequently, the region has been significantly affected by output curtailment, creating strong demand for grid-scale battery storage systems and presenting high business potential. In addition, establishing the grid-scale battery storage system will help to promote higher power supply-demand stability, as well as contribute significantly to the realization of a decarbonized society.
Kamigumi holds "Expanding businesses to address new logistics needs" as one of the basic principles under its Medium-Term Management Plan 2030. In line with this principle, Kamigumi is working to grow the battery business, and by linking it to the materiality topic "Promoting businesses that help solve social issues," it aims not only to grow the business but also contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society.
