Japan Port Industry Completes Construction of New Warehouse

On September 30, 2020, Kamigumi's subsidiary Japan Port Industry Co., Ltd. (JPI) completed construction of a new warehouse featuring freezer and refrigeration functions in Higashinada-ku, Kobe City.

The throughput of frozen and refrigerated cargo including frozen foods, dairy products, meats, and fruit juices is rising in recent years and it is expected to continue increasing in the future. JPI has therefore decided to construct a new warehouse to meet this high demand for warehouse space.

The new warehouse adopts natural refrigerant gas (ammonia and CO2) for its freezer and refrigeration facilities in place of chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) gas based on its commitment to use high efficiency equipment with a low environmental impact.

Additionally, the new warehouse is environmentally friendly, as the entire roof of the building is covered in solar panels that will be used to generate electricity and offset some of the electricity used by the facility.

Furthermore, in February 2019, Kamigumi acquired a majority of the shares of JPI, making it a subsidiary.

With this acquisition of shares, Kamigumi will harness JPI's know-how and business base in freezer and refrigerated warehouse operations to provide high grade logistics services achieved through synergistic effects with its own logistics network.
